After a suspicious six-week delay, Apple announced earlier this week that its wireless AirPods will indeed be heading to stockings before Christmas.
But with Apple supply levels always dangerously teetering on the edge of a cliff, making sure you can actually pick some up in time for the big day is no certainty.
According to a report from MacRumors, retail stores, carrier stores and Apple’s Authorised Resellers will be receiving an AirPod care package on Monday, December 19.
The company’s solution to its iPhone 7 headphone port axing was originally set to drop in late October, though saw delays for unconfirmed reasons.
And with Apple’s online store currently offering delivery in around six weeks, heading down to the actual store — we know, pfft — may be the only way you can shell out £159 on the fresh earbuds in time for the holiday.
When we had a quick play with the device(s) back in September, we found them to be a solid yet imperfect wireless solution to your headphone woe. It must be said there is a world of alternatives, mind.
But if you have your heart set on the AirPods and are still struggling to find stock, don’t panic — you can pick up Apple’s ‘Made In California’ picture book for around the same price (£169). Christmas will be saved.
